The D.O. Difference
As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), Dr. Bunten brings something extra to medicine. Like all state licensed doctors, he has a four-year undergraduate degree with an emphasis on science, four years of basic medical education, and a post-medical school area of specialty. Dr. Bunten’s education goes beyond the M.D. to include extra training in the musculoskeletal system of nerves, muscles and bones. This gives him a better understanding of how an injury or illness in one part of the body can affect another part of the body. As a result, he has a therapeutic and diagnostic advantage. “As a D.O., I look at the total person and
focus on finding the root cause of a health problem, rather than just
treating symptoms. I am also a big advocate of living a healthy lifestyle
and getting regular physical screenings. My number one goal is to keep
patients healthy throughout their lives.” - Dr. Bunten |
